Janel Maki serves as Operations Manager at Argand Partners assisting the CFO with special projects. She has provided administrative services for over 20 years at venture capital and other for-profit firms, including (currently) Salmon River Capital LLC and (formerly) StoneWater Capital LLC and Price Waterhouse, after starting her career in the non-profit sector at The Rockefeller University. She holds a B.A., magna cum laude, in International Relations from Long Island University/C.W. Post.

Catherine Mandell

Catherine Mandell
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

Catherine Clancy Mandell is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Argand. Previously, Ms. Mandell was Counsel for American Express, where she advised the company’s Global Commercial Services business and earned the American Express and Harvard Certificate in Leadership Excellence. Before joining American Express, Ms. Mandell worked as a corporate attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. She focused her practice on the structuring, offering and ongoing management of private equity and hedge funds, as well as M&A, securities and regulatory compliance. Ms. Mandell has also worked as in-house counsel on secondment at HPS Investment Partners (formerly known as Highbridge Principal Strategies), advising the firm’s private credit platform. Ms. Mandell earned her LL.M. in Taxation, with Distinction, and her J.D. from Georgetown Law, where she was a Global Law Scholar and received The Tax Lawyer Michael Mulroney Award for Outstanding Service. Ms. Mandell earned her B.S. in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University, where she received the United States Trust Company Award in Finance for Scholarship and Service and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.

Riley McCabe is a Senior Associate of Argand. Previously he was an Investment Banking Analyst at Credit Suisse in New York, where he focused on M&A and capital market transactions in the Global Industrials Group. Howard D. Morgan

Howard D. Morgan
Managing Partner

Howard D. Morgan is a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Argand as well as a member of the Management Committee and Investment Committee. He has been active in mid-market private equity for over 30 years. Howard was the President of Castle Harlan from 2010 to 2015 and joined Castle Harlan in 1996. From 1998 until 2015 he was also a member of the Board and associated investment committees of CHAMP Private Equity (now known as CPE Capital) from its inception. Previously, Howard was a partner at The Ropart Group, a private equity investment firm, and began his career as an Associate at Allen & Company, Inc. Howard is a Director and past Chairman of the Harvard Business School Club of New York, Chairman of the Parkinson’s Foundation, a Director of the Alexander Hamilton Institute and the World Press Institute, a Director and Treasurer of the Friends of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and a Trustee of the Naval War College Foundation. Mr. Morgan was a Director and officer of the Harvard Business School Alumni Board from 2006-2011. He received his B.A. from Hamilton College in Mathematics and Government and his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Howard is a Director of Brintons Carpets, Concrete Pumping Holdings, Inc. (Chair, NASDAQ: BBCP) and OASE Living Water. He is a former director of over one dozen companies, including Industrea Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: INDU), Shelf Drilling, Pretium Packaging, IDQ Holdings, Securus Technologies, Baker & Taylor, Polypipe Global Holdings, Austar United Communications Ltd., Norcast Wear Solutions, AmeriCast Technologies, Ion Track Instruments, Land ‘N’ Sea Distributing, Penrice Soda Products, and various CHAMP entities.

Dino Sawaya

Dino Sawaya
Principal

Dino Sawaya is a Principal of Argand. Previously, Dino worked at Castle Harlan’s affiliate, CHAMP Private Equity, where his responsibilities included the origination and assessment of potential investment opportunities, transaction execution and portfolio management of a number of investee companies including Accolade Wines, oOh!media, International Energy Services, Golding Contractors and LCR Group. Prior to joining CHAMP, Dino was a top ranked Investment Banking Analyst at Deutsche Bank, where he focused on M&A and capital markets transactions in the industrials, infrastructure, utilities, media and financial sponsors sectors. Dino graduated with Distinction from The University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Financial Economics and holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honors from The University of Sydney.

Joyce Schnoedl is a Partner of Argand. Previously, she was a Vice President of Castle Harlan, where she focused on private equity transactions across a variety of industries, including portfolio work for Gold Star Foods, Baker & Taylor, RathGibson and Perkins & Marie Callender’s. Prior to joining Castle Harlan, Joyce was an investment professional at J.H. Whitney & Co., where she focused on investments across consumer, specialty manufacturing, healthcare and business services sectors. Previously, she worked in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co., where she focused on merger advisory and financing transactions for global healthcare clients. Joyce graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in Economics and earned her M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School with first-year Honors.

Joyce is involved with the portfolio management of Brintons Carpets and Concrete Pumping Holdings, Inc. She is a former director of Brintons Carpets, Sigma Electric, Gold Star Foods and Baker & Taylor.
